Hey Everyone!
If you are interested in Home improvement shows, this is the one you want to go to!
I went last year and did my roof and deck for nearly nothing!
This year Josh Foss will be there -- "Organic Josh" is his nickname you may have heard of him from that. He's from HGTV's Design Star show. The web site about the show says this: "Josh designs with a gift for green, utilizing healthy, eco-friendly materials and technologies. His work has been summarized as "sustainable design of the high-style variety". Foss is also a contract designer for the U.S. Green Building Council and is touring the country spreading what he calls "The Green Gospel".
If you Go to floridahomeshows.com and type in the promo code POG when you purchase a ticket online at $7.00 to get a second ticket FREE!!
My mom and I both used the code and it worked fine.
See you all there!

I first saw Joshue Foss on HGTV's reality competition "Design Star" and feel in love with his work!
He designs with the gift of green which uses healthy, eco-friendly materials and technologies. Foss is also a contract designer for the U.S. Green Building Council and is touring the country spreading what he calls "The Green Gospel".
He is going to be at the Tampa/St. Petersburg Home and Patio show this weekend doing different presentations like Tools for Living a Stylish Green Life and Green Building Basics, Benefits and Misconceptions.
I'll be at his 3pm and 5pm shows this Friday the 18th, but he also has 3 shows on Saturday the 19th and 2 shows on Sunday the 29th.
This guys is a must see! After seeing his presentations, you will turn to him for all your "green" tips in the future!
If you want more info on him and the home show go to the website floridahomeshows.com!

I'm interested in eating food solely produced locally (within about a hundred mile radius of Tampa) and wondered whether anyone here does that, too! If so, what are some farms and co-ops you could recommend? And are there any local farmer's markets or stores you'd recommed that sell locally produced food? Any tips will be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!

It takes oil to transport water all around the globe to bottling plants; oil to make #7 plastic, 5-gal bottles (They're not recyclable); oil to make the small bottles (They're recyclable but 38 billion end up in landfills each year, requiring more oil needed to make more bottles); oil to transport the bottles to end users. It would be far better to use a filtration/purification water cooler and put your water in stainless steel sport bottles.

"So you're saying, instead of using tons of oil and waisting billions of dollars, we should just clean/recycle the water we have here? Like invest in a filtration/purification water cooler in our homes?
Sounds like a good idea to me. I've also read that some of the plastics used for water jugs in stores contaminate the water. I've read the clearer the container, the better, but I think stainless steel would be good.
It wouldn't contaminate the water, would it?" You got it! Also get rid of the 5-gallon bottled water coolers in business environments. The water usually isn't pure and the bottles and the reservoirthat the 5-gal bottle sits on grow bacteria like gang busters. The bacteria can lead to a Biofilm build up in the holding tank, some of which are said to cause Systic Fibrosis, and or, Legionare's disease. The coolers should be cleaned monthly with chlorine and most people don't clean them. Plus all of the hassles with storing, lifting, spilling the five gallon bottles. Stainless steel won't contaminate the water. Go to www.kleancanteen.com
